It is a drama waiting to happen. The next death of a professional cyclist during one of the major cycling events of this 2026 season. And it might be one of the top stars of the sports.
Vinjegaerd, Van Aert, Jacobsen,Tom Pidcock, Evenepoel have all been involved in near fatal accidents over the past 5 seasons.
And everyone knows the causes and no one is doing anything to prevent the inevitable. When, and not if, it happens all the stakeholders will point fingers at each other.
Who is responsible ?
- the teams. They sports directors push the riders always further over their limit. They push them back on their bikes to ride for long distances even with broken hips, wrists, collarbones, kneecaps...And what for ? Because the next day in a stage race, they will abandon it anyway. This is complete irresponsible and unacceptable behavior. And counterproductive.
