A completely anachronistic organisation which the British can't let go off. It is a nostalgic longing for the old, long gone Empire. But that is not how it is seen in Great Britain. There the thinking is that the colonies made a big mistake to extract themselves from the great motherland.
The British have never accepted the demise of the Empire, another example of that seen again in Brexit. Which country voluntarily ostracizes itself from its biggest market ? It's biggest market by far and thus exposed itself to import taxes and other trade barriers.
